Evolution of The Sacred Kiss
In 2006, the beginnings of the Sacred Kiss
occurred when I was invited to offer a "kissing
booth" at a Workless Party event. I wanted to
create an experience that was moving and
meaningful, even though many people would line
up initially for the novelty. By that fall, I
called it the Love Temple and with the simplest
decor, I offered kisses with specifically
healing intentions. Most people received it
meaningfully even though at the time, the kisses
were offered without words.
The next evolution of this would not manifest
until 2008, when I decided to capture the
internal story that I was quietly imparting
whenever I offered the healing kisses. After
writing the words to the Sacred Kiss Healing, I
incorporated it into my "Alchemy of the Heart"
class so that I could teach people how to embody
the compassion within the story and welcome the
intimacy of the experience. Over the last 3
years, I've taught it to hundreds of
participants in both full-length courses to
mini-workshops at special functions. It was even
shared as an interactive experience for the
entire audience at VanCity theatre during the
Sistahood festival. Each time, I witness the
courage and trust that people are willing to
share when there is a safe container. It is
amazing how a human being will transcend their
usual fears and move into a profound state of
compassion if the energy is cultivated with
reverence.
Within the "XoX Temple" space, many people have
volunteered to offer this beautiful experience
to strangers on the street, at big parties, at
retreats and at diverse festivals ranging from
the Car Free Festivals to Entheos Solstice
festival. I am always touched by each of our
outings together - it never gets old for me to
see the smiles, the tears and the beauty of each
person who has given or received a Sacred Kiss.
I've kissed hundreds of people and feel that
every single person seemed to understand on an
intuitive level, the sacred essence in this
work. Much appreciation also goes to all the
Sacred Kiss volunteers who have taken part over
the years - I'm honored by your loving kindness
and commitment to this process.
The Sacred Kiss is intended to help bring some
healing to the hearts who have suffered in some
way due to abandonment, exclusion, betrayal,
neglect, disillusionment, abuse and loneliness.
It is meant to bring some light to those who
felt hurt by parents, friends or partners. This
healing is one of the many forms of Sacred
Activism that I love to share and I am honored
to bring it to Occupy Vancouver this Thursday as
an offering from my heart to those who will
gather there. I will also be facilitating the
Sacred Kiss with the entire audience at the Rumi
Renaissance Temple Night this Friday night,
where Andrew Harvey (a famous Rumi scholar,
activist and author) will be the featured
speaker.
