Music is not only enchanting, it is recognized as a balm for the body, mind and soul.

It’s telling to see that the Chinese character for medicine evolved from the one for music!

Certain types of music or instruments are particularly soothing depending on your taste but those that “sing” like the human voice are said to benefit our health the most.

I remember the catharsis I felt when I heard the singing saw in the movie Delicatessen in 1992.

It’s hard to believe such an ethereal sound can come from a jagged piece of steel!

It’s what I imagine a mermaid sounds like when she sings…

Also known as a “musical saw”, its haunting sound is pleasing if you appreciate melancholy.

Once you’ve heard it, you’ll never forget it… kind of like an analogue version of the Theremin!

Over the years, I’ve done singing saw impressions with my voice at parties and on stage but I’d never met anyone who actually played it!

Poking around the internet,  I looked for singing saw players in Vancouver.
