Learning new skills is part of developing one’s Renaissance Spirit!  There is nothing like pushing yourself past your comfort zones with something that intrigues you…

Some Background:  Stiltwalking has been a small curiosity of mine and the chance to indulge it came this summer when some friends posted that they were going to make some stilts for newbies who wanted to take part in some group performances in the desert.  This small curiosity turned into big-time fun with the help of Ali and Berm of 64 Arts!  Thank you so much for mentoring and generously sharing your passions!

Two weeks later, at Burning Man 2012, our group stilted to the infamous Stilt Bar (which I’d seen at Burning Man 2010).  It is a bar that has very high stools and bar service intended for stilters!  It was a very magical playful afternoon of being tall spectacles together!

Another highlight at this year’s Burning Man occurred when we stilted all the way to the Temple and back to Esplanade for the sunrise procession all dressed in white… For us newbies, it was only our 4th time up on stilts and apparently, it was about a 2 km return trip!

And by chance, I had videotaped the 2010 moment when I’d originally encountered the Stilt Bar – it’s like a scene from a whimsical circus dream!  (See the video below)
