April Healing Garden Gathering:
A Community Building Event
Each Healing Garden Gathering explores a different theme to benefit our members’ peer support skills and overall wellness.
This month’s topic:
Gift Circles, with featured facilitator Mimi Hall
Gift Economy and community talking circles create the path to Resilience and Connection! You are warmly invited to explore the mysteries of the giver, receiver, and gift.
We will work with the elements of compassionate speech and listening, cultivating a sense of belonging, confidentiality in the circle, as well as the art of giving and receiving.
Seated together in a circle throughout the evening we will explore:
– Mind Body Awareness while practicing active listening and compassionate speech
– Talking circle guidelines and principles
– Gift Exchange and Resilience Economy
Please come with a gift to share: a material thing to placed in the group sharing bowl, or a note with your name and a service or action written on it to be carried out at a later date, a poem or something to be read aloud, a snack to share…whatever you feel called to bring.
Thank you for your interest in creating deep community bonds and in this opportunity to begin considering the mysteries and wonders of the giver, receiver, and gift.
Mimi Hall is a student and lover of life, mother, yoga teacher, and supporter of the arts. Mimi is delighted and honoured to plant and nurture the seeds of deep community connections and resilience through Gift Sharing and Talking Circles.
What to bring:
1) A finger food snack to share at the break
2) A bottle of drinking water
3) A gift for the Gift Sharing Bowl (see details above)
3) optional: Your own mug + tea to share (hot water is available)
4) optional: Notebook/pen if desired
Time: 6:30pm doors open for mingling + 7pm Opening Circle (doors are locked at 7:30pm).
Location: #202 – 1651 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
On the 2nd floor of the Il Mercato Centre, on the NW corner of E1st Ave and Commercial Drive.
