Vancouver Chapter of Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) presents:
The Future of Civilization - a Unique Vancouver
Perspective
with guest speakers Little Woo and Dolly Hopkins
Each individual soul contributes to the Future of Civilization. As more
people become aware of the laws of manifestation, the collective vision
can be increasingly focused on what we DO want to create.
Our Guest speakers (Little Woo and Dolly Hopkins) will touch upon
examples of individuals and communities (local and abroad), who are
actively co-creating such realities. They will list shared values and
dreams within the IONS group, to see its collective vision more clearly.
Stephan A Schwartz’s project (the 2050 club) will be mentioned as well,
a long-term research project that has produced fascinating future
projections made by diverse populations around the world since the
1960’s.
The unique Vancouver perspective will focus on Vancouver’s community
events that nurture community pride and social cohesion, drawing diverse
groups together in a cooperative and collaborative spirit that
transcends differences in generation, language, background and opinion.
As an example, the participatory public art engagements are a potent
force for community healing and health and directly contribute to
increased civic involvement, safer neighborhoods, economic prosperity,
reduced isolationism, and enhanced quality of life. An investment in
these organizations is an invaluable contribution to the prosperity of
our communities, our region, and our province.
Both of these speakers were chosen because they are passionate community
activists, generating/empowering energy at the local level which
radiates/expands to the larger community.......making connections
sometimes on a global scale. The future of civilization depends on the
spirit and visions of grass roots groups like the kind that Woo and
Dolly have and continue to foster.
Come & be inspired to co-create the realities we want for ourselves &
our families in our own communities.

Juicy Danger Meets
Burning Man
Film Screening
Q&A with Larry Harvey (Burning Man
co-founder) and the Stars of the Juicy
Danger film
and a Dance Party!!
at 7 pm, Japanese Hall (487 Alexander St)
To commemorate the 10-year anniversary
Special Edition DVD release of David
Vaisbord's Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man
documentary, Larry Harvey, Executive
Producer of Burning Man, will be in
Vancouver for an evening of celebration and
debauchery on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at the
Japanese Hall (487 Alexander St, Vancouver.)
The evening will begin with a screening
of this cult classic film and escalate into
pure riot and revelry! The after party for
this evening features a Burning Man inspired
fashion show, Blackberry Wood, Jay Michael
and DJ Timothy Wisdom – not to mention food,
fire, a mobile boardroom parked outside to
settle emergency red tape, celebrity monkies
and a giant mechanical mondo spider.
The film Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man is a
fascinating look at the lives of two of
Canada's most brilliant and dangerous
performers, Tom Comet (Circus Orange) and
Christine "Tiny" Taylor, who take their act
of extreme hazard, buzzin and sparking with
chainsaws and flame throwers to Burning Man
(www.burningman.com). Seasoned Burners and
inquisitive minds alike will marvel at the
scene -- filmed at the renegade desert city
10 years ago! In those 10 years, Gemini
nominated filmmaker David Vaisbord, creator
and producer, has shown this film to seduced
audiences via TV Ontario, CTV, and BRAVO! It
played to sell out audiences in New York and
Chicago, made celebrities out of its two
leads -- the hair-raising
comedic/thrill-seeking duo Tom Comet and
Christine Taylor -- and received the Special
Jury Prize at the Yorkton Short Film
festival. David Vaisbord, Christine Taylor,
Tom Comet (Circus Orange), as well as Larry
Harvey and Marian Goodell from Burning Man
will be holding the discussion panel
following the film and shakin it up with us
at the after party.
The event will be presented in two parts:
Part 1: Movie and Panel Discussion
7pm Doors
7:50pm INTRO!
8pm Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man film
presentation
9pm-10pm Panel discussion and Q&A with David
Vaisbord, Larry Harvey, Tiny Taylor & Tom
Comet
Part 2: Schmoozin' & Dance Party
10pm Doors
10:30pm Playa on the Runway :: Fashion Show
feat. DJ Jay Michael
11:15pm Blackberry Wood
12:30am
burlesque by Little Woo
12:40-2am DJ Timothy Wisdom
Part 1: Film Screening, Discussion and
Party: $25 advance, $30 door
Part 2: Party only: $10 advance, $15 door
Tickets to this event are limited and will
sell out. Advance tickets are available
online at
www.JuicyDangerMeetsBurningMan.com
and at Zulu Records (1972 West 4th Ave) and
Highlife Records (1317 Commercial Drive).
Guests will be treated to an evening of pure
revelry, mischief, stunning media and all
night entertainment. View the film that
changed the face of the underground,
creative community of Vancouver amongst the
same colouful and energetic crowd that
inspired it. The Japanese Hall will be
cleverly disguised as a piece of the
"Playa". We have a host of mischief makers
plotting the uprising.. . . On visuals:
David Rimmer, James Deane and Media Victim.
Bid credit also goes to Burn BC, GVIAS and
the Inner City Commune -- these folks know
how to throw down a party. Cash bar,
brilliant art installations, décor, fire
shows, food, costumes and clever surprise
theatrics all part of the scene. Costumes
encouraged. Anything goes.
Indeed, this is more than a DVD release.
This is a unique, creative and inclusive
community celebration. Get involved with the
crew! There are still a few volunteer
positions available. Get ahold of Andrea

Parade of Lost
Souls
Starts at Grandview Park,
Commercial Drive
Events begin at 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Life and Death mix and mingle at the Parade
of the Lost Souls, which will be returning
on Commercial Drive at Grandview Park.
Parade of the Lost souls is a lively
commemoration of the cycle of existence and
deceased, and of facing fears in order to
live life to its fullest. The performers are
the audience, willing spirits who have come
together to pay tribute to the departed and
to celebrate the brilliance of life.
Skeletal Brides, blessed witches, ghastly
ghouls, and prancing pixies mingle side by
side with everyday people. By the light of
the radiant moon, processions of costumed
stilt walkers, jugglers, dancers, and
musicians lead spectators on an entrancing
passageway through the neighborhood.
The evening features shrines, fire
performance, supernatural beings, and
dancing in the street.

The space is wonderful.
The Main floor looks gorgeous and spacious with a
mezzanine that will host an intentional Art
installation, and some chill and couch areas. (If
you have some cushions to donate).
The Basement is all stone.
Art and music will happen in this Underworld (GORF
Beats) and Live PA will make that space come
together.
A bonus for this event will be a super chill quiet
get away room with a Dirty Santa Photo Booth, in
another studio in the Building.
So dress your best, brightest and naughtiest for
this complimentary photographic experiment.
With all of this happening on a local election
night, things will be very interesting to say the
least. We would love to see your shining faces
and delicious naughtiness for this celebration of
creativity and life.

We live in a magical world and you are a divine
being with infinite creative power. In every moment,
you are designing your reality. By knowing
consciously about the Laws of Manifestation (aka
Laws of Attraction), you can have more fun
materializing opportunities, careers, money, things,
people, experiences and great joy. In this
introductory class, we will cover the key principles
and also look at what life is like when we step
fully into this new paradigm of being.
Note: We will hold a potluck style
lunch.

When does your heart close? What wounds do we
still carry with us? How can we heal these
precious tender parts?
Compassion, Joy, Understanding, Forgiveness and Unconditional
Love... These are some of the Teachings of the
Heart. If we authentically cultivate these
vibrations in our daily lives, transformations
occur in surprising and inspiring
ways. We can learn to keep our hearts
open, fearlessly and with magical results.
We will practice sensing the subtle movements of the
heart chakra. We will learn to use this
perception for self-healing and growth. You
will see it alter your relationship dynamics and
your life.
Foremost in level 1, we will focus on the path of Self-Love.
Nurturing a true commitment to Self is a path of honour, non-judgment and bliss. It is the
greatest relationship one can have.
You need not feel alone ever again, if you
fall in love with Self. This is not about
Narcissism, it is about the healing that allows you
to truly be an instrument of Love.
We will also learn a powerful meditation and healing
called "The Sacred Kiss" that is part of the
XOX temple project.
Join us for 4 weeks of intimacy, healing and
expansion...

Bring on the magic, flow and creative joy!!
In this course, we continue to examine the
Laws of Manifestation as we each bravely launch a
personal project that is witnessed and
supported by the group. It can be in
any form or can simply be a list of things
you wish to experience during the session.
Be it the advancement of your career, the
transformation of your relationship, the
healing of an old wound, the beginning of
your dream lifestyle, the creation of a new
business or the deepening of your artistic
exploration, this project class will be an
opportunity to focus on some life goals
while being nurtured in a loving garden of
like-minded souls.
Applying the
spiritual concepts covered in the Fundamentals class
(level 1), we will practice what we know in
a practical manner during the creation of
each participant's project. (it is
recommended to take the Fundamentals course
prior to this project class)
The course content is also guided by the
specific questions that participants bring
up along the course of their unique
projects. As a result, the content of
each project class will be different and
participants may choose to take this class
again at a future date with a different
project in mind.
Using a project as the point of focus and
experimentation, we can have a clearer
understanding of our thought patterns and
habitual emotional grooves. However,
the end result of the project is less
important than the teachings inherent in the
journey. Along the way, we are
training our sensitivity to the energy
realm. We are learning to be more
aware of how we are channeling energy in the
various areas of our lives.
Join us as we evolve together in a
supportive, loving and playful group setting!

Why can't figure drawing be sexy?
Part art class, part cabaret, join us for 3
hours of drinking, drawing and decadence!
You bring your pencils and paper and we'll
bring you the most beautiful, bizarre and
outrageous models for your sketching
delectation! Think burlesque dancers, drag
kings and queens, circus performers and we
let you draw them for a whole three hours!
Looking for an antidote to the bright colors
of the season? Welcome to the dark side of
Christmas.
Grab your pencils, your paper, and perhaps
some black eyeliner, and join us at the
Jupiter Lounge for Vancouver's legendary
burlesque dancer, little woo, for Dr
Sketchy's Gothic XXXmas. Class starts at
7pm!
At Jupiter Lounge
1216 Bute Street, Vancouver

$10
What is Dr. Sketchys?
Hosted by Shary Contrary, Dr Sketchy
Vancouver brings you the most dazzling
burlesque dances, the most bizarre circus
performers, and the most rippling hunks of
boylesque.
From humble beginnings...
Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School was founded by
artist, model, and occasional burlesque
performer Molly Crabapple. Tired of the
sterile buttoned-up art classes she posed
for, Molly envisioned a life-drawing class
that was decadent, sexy, with high pay and
stellar treatment for models and boozy fun
for all.
